Committees
Throughout my employment at Nashville Public Library, I have had the opportunity to serve on a few committees. Detailed information about each one is provided below.
Summer Reading Challenge Committee
I have served on the Summer Reading Challenge committee since 2016. Each year, I have the joy of collaborating with coworkers from different branches and departments to create a stellar program for all ages. In the summer of 2021, we saw the highest completion rate since. I served as the coordinator for the program for summer 2020 and 2021. You can learn more about my success managing this program here.
Volunteer State Book Award Primary (K-2nd) Committee
The Volunteer State Book Award is an annual award sponsored by the Tennessee Library Association and the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. Each year, children are asked to read books from the list of nominated titles and then vote for their favorite. I serve on the Primary (K-2nd) Committee, which creates a list of 20 titles for Kindergarten - Second Grade. I have been a member of the Primary Committee since 2016 and have been a co-chair of the Volunteer State Book Awards since 2019.
Read to Rise - Early Literacy Initiative Committee
Read to Rise is Nashville Public Library's early literacy campaign to encourage parents and caregivers to develop the habit of reading to their child for 20 minutes every day. This program launched in September 2018, and I was part of the committee that created the program. I have served on this committee since 2015.
In 2016, I was a member of the Staff Development committee. The group planned and coordinated an event for the 400 plus employees of Nashville Public Library.
